HAKU COLLECTIVE’S
MeleCraft Mentorship
We are celebrating 10 years since our first Melecraft Mentorship program was introduced, and we are happy to announce that we are returning to Hawaiʻi Island on October 23-24, 2026! Our young artists ages 14-22 will study how Native Hawaiian artists have used mele as a vessel for aloha ʻāina and resistance, and experience how mele can be a tool for healing and wellbeing. Mentees will hone their craft through songwriting and performing exercises, creating quality music through an authentic, holistic approach. They will leave with the critical industry skills needed to see them through the "talent pipeline," and the confidence to contribute to their communities as healthy, economically independent artists. Rooted in ʻāina, amplified through mele, MeleCraft reinforces a powerful message: “Mele Heals, Connects and Empowers Youth Voices.”
Mentor artists Kimie Miner, Kaumakaiwa Kanakaʻole and Isaiah Tavares are excited to create with our young artists in Kona! Check out our recap videos and images below. Click the button to sign up today. Don’t forget to spread the word about this FREE opportunity!
